Mascot NSW
Parks in Mascot
From beautiful to serene, from tranquil to active, there is a park for every mood and occasion. Mascot. NSW has parks that are perfect for kids of any age. Playgrounds with slides and swings will keep the little ones entertained while their parents read on a bench or watch from the shade of a tree. Older children can enjoy BMX bikes or soccer pitches while adults relax at picnic tables overlooking Cook Park’s lake and gardens.
Below are some of the best parks in this area:
Lionel Bowen Park
This park is famous for its “Lionel Bowen Pool” which was opened in 1963 and lies between Mascot Avenue and Gardeners Road. The pool has a large, open grass area where children can run around or play cricket (perfect to practice before the big game). There are BBQ facilities at the front of the park – perfect for a family gathering. The pool is open from December until April each year, and entry prices are affordable for the whole family to enjoy a day at the park.
Mascot Memorial Park
The Mascot Memorial Park was first opened in 1924 as part of an ANZAC Day commemoration ceremony that included its own marching band! Since then it has become one of Sydney’s best public spaces – with five war memorials dotted around this impressive area. Visitors can take time out under shady trees or play games on the lawns while enjoying views over Botany Bay (a popular fishing spot). This park also includes two playground areas that will keep kids entertained all day long, along with BBQ facilities so guests can prepare their lunch before relaxing among friends.
This expansive park is a must-see for anyone living in the Mascot area.
Cook Park
This park was opened in 1967 and takes its name from Captain James Cook – an explorer who mapped the east coast of Australia. The park stretches over 16 hectares and has something for everyone. There are large areas of grass perfect for picnics, basketball courts, a playground with sandpits and water features, and even a lake where you can hire paddle boats! This is one of Sydney’s most popular parks so be prepared to share the space with plenty of other people – but that just means there’s always someone to chat to while enjoying the fresh air.
If you want to escape the hustle and bustle of city life, visit one of these beautiful parks for a day in the sunshine.

Just wish it was bigger. This is predominantly an off-leash dog park with a playground, but not much else. It’s central to the big high-rise apartments on the area, so the neighbourhood puppies come here as one of their only local options. It’s well kept, but the grass is often ripped up by the dogs.

It’s the green space near my home where I can walk to and sit in the warmth on a sunny day. It’s good to have this area in the heart of the suburbs.

Very family friendly. The grounds are well maintained by Sydney City Council. There are free BBQ’S available. There are Tennis Courts you can hire, a small basketball area , cricket enclosed area as well. also a dedicated children’s play area.
You get quite a few dogs being walked around and some off leash.
There is a cafe across the road opens early closes fairly early as well.
The biggest let down is that there are only 1 men’s & women’s toilet available and more often than not the female one is out of order.
