Great customer service. Changed rooms, but was v small compared to original booking (family room). Also bed was hard as a concrete slab. No MWO, you can only eat out or head to the restaurant. Plug was to small for sink for my shave…..

First time guest to the hotel. Excellent rate for a overnight stay. Room spotless and spacious. Balcony view included. Huge carpark located outside. Very quiet location. The only negative feedback I will offer. And hence only 3 Stars given. Is lack of POWER POINTS IN THE BEDROOM.

Good location but that’s about it. Breakfast was not nice at all and if I’m honest a buffet of assortments would have been better. Lazy cooking if you ask me. Bathroom was stocked on day 2 of being there, why wasn’t it it ready when we arrived? Room tiny and especially for the price we expected something a lot better than what we got. Room smelt, balcony small and the plastic on the bed made sleeping very hot and sweaty. Pretty sure won’t be staying here again

Great location right next to the stadium and walking distance to the main street. The staff were very friendly and helpful especially Thomas at reception and Ross at the restaurant bar in the evening (makes great cocktails!). Also the breakfast in the restaurant was excellent and good value prices. Will definitely stay again and recommend to others.

A nice enough place to stay, right near the beach. Room was fairly standard. I wasn’t lucky enough to get a room with a view (but some would have great views). Parking was limited, and don’t forget to book a place for breakfast! I was disappointed they couldn’t make room for me to have my “included” breakfast, but had a relaxing breakfast at a nice cafe around the corner instead.

Faultless stay for a few nights
Stayed for a couple of nights for work I cannot fault anything with this place.
I requested a room.move to a higher floor and was accommodated by the reception staff who were excellent throughout the stay.
The room was very good and all facilities in it were in good working order. The shower had great pressure and the bed and pillows were comfortable so.made for a good stay.
Had breakfast in the restaurant both mornings and there was good variety and quality of food.
Would definitely stay here again, location is awesome and if you get a beach view room the view can be fantastic.

We stayed in an ocean view room. And it was worth it! The view of the water was so peaceful and seeing the sun rise as I woke up is just perfection. I love the beach, so being within close proximity was a major plus on location. Otherwise, it’s a 17min walk to the town centre for shops and major eatery chains.
We were super lucky that we had 5 cockatoos come for a visit by the closed and sealed window.
The only downside was this time of year is a bit cold, so didn’t make use of the pool, which was a tad small. And the spare sofa bed looked horribly soft and uncomfortable but we didn’t need to use it anyway so that’s fine.
The bar area is very nice and super spacious.
There are a number of cafes within 2min walk next door and they were great for brekkie.
Overall, service was attentive. Cleaners and shop staff within the hotel were super friendly. Would definitely come back again!

Excellent stay and accommodating for families, as my three old daughter had a blast..
Wonderful views of the ocean. The rooms were absolutely immaculate from the beds to shower to the foyer, everything was very clean.
The breakfast buffet was a treat. Also very welcoming and friendly staff particularly in the restaurant.
Highly recommended

Receptionist was very rude , rooms was good , booking was made for 7 people but there was only 3 beds, when television channels was not clear I rang the reception & was told by the same receptionist that maybe the kids did something & said it will take the technician very long to come & fix the issue . Technician was very friendly. The hotel charged bond on my arrival which wasn’t written anywhere in the booking . I was told if I won’t pay the bond me & my 4 kids can’t go inside the room

We enjoyed our stay here. The reception was warm and friendly, the room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Pricing was reasonable and it is situated close to the beach and had ample parking. As an additional bonus, the ground floor has The Anchorage Restaurant and also the Basin Cafe which has outdoor seating adjoining a park. We will stay here again when we are next in Wollongong.

From the moment we stepped through the door we were transported back in time to 1980. From the vermiculite on the ceiling to the air conditioner the size of a small family car bolted to the floor. If your room faces the car park, don’t expect any sleep because the light that stays on all night could be used at Steeler’s stadium during a football match. Not that it matters because the bed is only a double, with a mattress as old as the rest of the decor, so you won’t get any sleep anyway! Enter the bathroom and pass through another time portal back to the early 70’s and the original bathroom that has never been updated.

Really nice motel, about 10 seconds walk from the water (I kid you not!).
We were able to check in a bit early, which was an advantage with our plans for the afternoon, and the owner gave us some local tips for getting around.
Overall we had a great weekend in Wollongong in a wonderful spot. Thank you!

A solid offering in their market. Rooms are clean & well serviced, staff are lovely, facilities including kitchen & individual laundry are new & easy to navigate. Plenty of parking usually, even though weekends are busier. Close to amenities but very quiet, with minimal intrusion from neighbours, and only occasional sound bleed from other rooms washing or showers. Definitely recommend a an excellent accommodation option in Wollongong CBD.

This is the second time we have stayed here. The rooms are clean and affordable. The service is good. I wouldn’t stay here again due to the situation of the showers. On both occasions, we found that the showers have no water pressure at all. The hot water is not hot, it is warm. No need to add any cold water at all. Combine this with a fan right above your head and the results are a cold miserable shower. I understand the need to conserve water but this is ridiculous and after our second stay here, I won’t stay again. People rent accomodation and want to have a decent shower, not feel like someone has heated up some water and poured it on your head from a watering can while a fan is blowing cold air on them. It’s a good recipe to get sick particularly in this winter cold.

Conveniently located accommodation, very walkable to the main city centre. Lots of convenient food places nearby.
Staff was friendly and the service was great! The only downside might be the room itself, as the walls are quite thin and can hear other guests rummaging around in the corridor and in their rooms. Some maintenance might be required in the bathrooms as well, but other than that. It’s a nice place to stay if you’re in town visiting.

I do feel the price we were charged was far too high for the room. It is obviously an older motel and needs a good refresh.
It was clean enough but I feel it could be cleaner as there were hard dried crumbs in the toaster.
The nibbles tray had a big chunk broken off of it and they haven’t bothered to replace it. The utensil tray was also broken and not replaced. The grout in the bathroom tiles needs a good clean as it was very dirty and also some mould in the shower.
I can see that in its hey day our room cost could be justified but not any longer.

The room was dirty on arrival. There were sticky stains on the coffee table & the other areas all needed a good wipe down, all were gritty. And the furniture was thick with dust. There were also food crumbs on the lounge. The carpets were also badly stained & it had a funny unpleasant smell. I’m not normally one to complain but I can’t sleep in dirty places. Especially when we had paid over $400 a night, we expected a lot better. When we spoke to the reception staff they offered for a cleaner to check it or a full refund. We opted for the refund & found alternate accommodation.

I would have expected much more for the price. Old building, old room that was badly renovated. The carpets are not glued to the floor and the apartment feels a bit dirty in general. Sheets are clean and the bed is ok so I guess that’s the most important for a short stay.

$400 a night and parking is extra. Disability access is atrocious and hardly exists. Through the garage during business hours only with one of the only two Disability parks full of laundry trolleys.
Its a very tired old property with a balcony glass panel wedged in with newspaper, window seals dodgy with slap dash home repairs.
Not really cleaned well with left over rubbish. And signs every where telling you you’ll be fined or evicted.
I’m surprised Mantra gives its name to this place

DO NOT STAY AT THIS MOTEL!!
The owners are absolutely ridiculous and no care towards there tenants. One of the bosses said to my partner “I don’t care if you kill yourself” this is absolutely appalling the old owners were good but these ones are just ridiculous. Not to mention there was mould all throughout the room. Blood in the bathroom. No respect was given even though my partner was homeless, they should be ashamed of themselves, the sheets were also dirty and used. Do not stay here!!

Good size room but facilities sadly lacking. Bathroom waste bin from previous occupants had not been emptied before our arrival (8pm). Bedroom that would sleep 4 people provided 2 cups toaster and a microwave no teaspoons or other cutlery and crockery of any kind. Milk was sour. TV worked via WiFi but we were never given the password and after hours didn’t answer the phone when called. Very dangerous step up and over the bath to get into the shower.

I booked this place to utilise the stay voucher which upon arrival was told “we don’t take that”. I had to show the reception lady the website that clearly says the motel is meant to accept these. She wouldn’t do anything about it, charged me the full amount and then said I’ll talk to the manager and perhaps she can refund the amount of the voucher – never heard anything back from her or the manager.
The room had a very pungent odour that gave the feeling of dirty, even after ventilating the room I could not improve the stench.
Upon checkout there were no instructions except to call a number. I called this number and spoke to a Nicole about the checkout process and to find out how the stay voucher issue would be rectified. She spoke very rudely to me and when I advised her I didn’t appreciate how she was speaking to me she said it was because people who checked in yesterday were “rude” to her friend yesterday to which I advised her there were several guests who checked in and were asking about the vouchers and that I wasn’t rude to her friend but simply was disappointed for the false advertising. She then changed her story and told me I’d caught her at a bad time because she was going to the hospital for an unwell relative and basically told me my concerns didn’t matter.
I attempted to follow this up with an email to the motel with no response.
I’d never recommend this place and will definitely not stay here again.

As someone who has previously stayed at The Normandie before the new owners had taken over I can say it has had a massive turn around. Like brand new!
The place before had a thick smell of smoke and who knows what else, bathrooms were dirty with stained toilets and walls, power points not working, real wear your thongs in the shower situation! Was very run down. Not to mention the very irritated and unpleasant receptionist who I think was the owner, had mentioned if I was unhappy to stay elsewhere. Unfortunately for myself it was in the perfect location for where I needed to be and within my budget meaning I was forced to stay.
Bit scared when I needed to book to stay again due to my first experience but didn’t have much choice!
I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived, after finally getting through to the actual Normandie, yeah beware the old owner will try to tell you they are permanently closed and try to have you stay in other apartments in the Wollongong area I assume they own, Don’t! They are a nightmare.
Now there is beautiful fresh atmosphere, all new everything from beds to carpets, very clean and staff are always around to help out, extremely friendly and feels a lot safer just really feels like a comfortable, cosy place to stay now, bit of renovation noise on the first day but with that being the only downside and a temporary one I would highly recommend staying here!

The hotel was worse than advertised. Partially as expected, as it was very cheap, but the room was advertised as a hotel with a kitchen and bathroom, only to find out upon arrival that it was more of a hostel. The kitchen, bathroom and dining area were shared, with the only private area we had being one room. The hotel seemed dirty, as there were stains on the carpet, chairs and towels. The roof was water damaged and overall it seemed outdated and unkept. The hotel definitely should be advertised as 1-2 stars rather than 3. However, the location was good and provided easy access to the station. Staff were friendly enough.

I had to change this review. The old review had 5 Star rating which I gave back in January. The quality of food has degraded so much the my rating has dropped to 2 stars. None of the items were as good as it was the first time we visited. Only reason for 2 star is the same quality it has for Cheese & Spinach Naan. The food is expensive but it was justified based on the quality, but now it feels that the pricing is not worth spending here depending on what they are giving you. We actually drove all the way from Sydney to have dinner here which was a waste of time & money both. They took 1 hour to give us the order & we found hair in one of the daal as well as rice.
Old review with 5 Star rating:
One of the best Indian food you can get in a restaurant. Amazing curry & dal. Naan was amazing too, especially cheese & spinach naan. Having dinner while hearing the soothing sound of sea is amazing. I’d recommend sitting outside to have amazing sea view while having dinner.
Hope to visit here again soon enough for sure. This would be my go to place when I’m in Wollongong.

I had malai kofta, the journey of eating was amazing and made me feel back to India. The chilli panner was super spicy to out taste.
I gave 4 starts only because of the super long wait for more than 1 hr. In between the stater and mains.
We came to the restaurant at 6:40pm and left at 8:50 pm, we had to leave back to Sydney that night.
The food is a 5 out of 5, but the wait is 1 start.

Daggy, dated and in need of maintenance. Tiles in bathroom and kitchen were slimy and slippery with whatever they last mopped over them. Bed was small. I went into the store today with a specific product in mind.
I had done online research and wanted a solution today. When i found the product it was too large and asked for assistance. Steff was the member I spoke with and at first the option she provided was an online purchase, when I questioned this and asked for a result today she instantly clicked into “solution” mode and we came up with a great outcome. This is exactly what I was after and am very thankful. Great experience.

She was incredibly helpful and gave me lots of ideas to pass on along with some great brochures. I emailed her ideas to my friends and they were thrilled with the possibilities and the ease at which they will be able to book their trip and lots of day trips.

Been waiting over 3 weeks almost 4 for tax return after calling 2 times. Very rude telling me that I needed to be more patient even though they told me that it would be in my account by 3 weeks. Only good thing about the experience is the accountant we were dealing with was lovely. Front desk needs a bit of customer service work. Wouldn’t recommend this place though.
