Everything You Need to Know About Rosehill
Rosehill is a suburb of Sydney, Australia. It is located near the suburb of Northmead. The population was 3,806 at the 2016 census.
The first inhabitants of this area were Indigenous Australians who spoke the Dharawal language as their main dialect. They called it “Ngota-lunga” which means “place where fireflies live.” This area was first explored by Europeans in 1792 when Governor John Hunter sailed up the Parramatta River.
The suburb of Rosehill was named after Rose Hill Estate, which was built by Captain Thomas Laycock and his wife Rose in 1820. The estate consisted of a large house, stables, outbuildings, and orchards. The original house still stands today and is the oldest building in Rosehill NSW 2142.
The first railway station in Rosehill was built in 1856. It was known as “Roseville Junction” because it was located near the junction of two railways lines – the Main North Line and the North Shore Line. The station closed down in 1924 but reopened again in 1945.
In 1911, a racecourse called Rosehill Gardens Racecourse opened up just west of the suburb. It is now one of Sydney’s most popular horse racing venues.
Rosehill has a number of schools including Roseville Public School, Our Lady Of Mercy Catholic Primary School, St Joseph’s Catholic College Parramatta, and Trinity Grammar School.
It also has many parks, including Rosehill Park, Rosslyn Blay Park, and John Irving Park.
Is Rosehill a Good Place to Live?
There is no one-size-fits-all answer to this question, as what may be good for one person may not be good for another. However, Rosehill does have many things going for it, including its close proximity to Sydney’s CBD, its wide range of schools and parks, and its popular racecourse. It also has a relatively low population density, which can be appealing to some people.
So overall, while Rosehill may not be perfect for everyone, it does have a lot to offer those looking for a place to call home. If you’re considering moving here, we encourage you to do additional research and come up with your own opinion on whether or not Rosehill is right for you.

This place is where all the action is. Footpaths that go around the whole park where you can run, walk or just a casual stroll. Great place to take the kids with their skate boards, scooters or roller scates as there is ramps for them to go on. There’s a gym area to workout on. Lots of gym equipment to get your heart rate up and get a good workout. Over There’s a water a park play area for the kids. Water park is closed at the moment but the swings & other kids park is available. Lots of room to set up your own soccer goals or cricket as there is lots of fields to plays on. Lots of shade to have a picnic. There are 3 restaurants near by to get food. MacDonald’s is right next to the park which is very convenient. Across the road is Kentucky and Hungry Jacks or take your own picnic there. Loves this place. I recommend it to everyone.

Great park I come here regularly as I live nearby however like Guildford Park it has become very unkempt and sometimes neglected under the inept management of Cumberland Council the only improvement lately is a bit mulch spread about ,prior to the council mergers Parramatta Council maintained the park with an interesting history to a high standard – Update August 2021 park upkeep & maintenance has improved greatly over the past year or so

A fantastic park for the kids! Miss 8 and Mr 6 LOVED the water park and climbing the large tower. It was hard to get them to leave! The metal slides were a massive hit and we spent a few hours here. EASY to find parking but bring a picnic blanket as seating is limited. There are loads of bathrooms and a cafe near the bank for coffee or a snack

Great park for any age group. Great dog park, lot of playgrounds, football, cricket, tennis, basketball and a decent kids play area. Barbecue options for family. A good spot for weekend picnic. On a crowded weekend you may find it difficult to find a parking space easily, but otherwise enough parking lots across the park.

It’s a big park with lots of play area and a water play park. My kids love coming here. Very smart to have shady area for family to put their belongings & have a picnic. The only down side is there is no shade for most of the play area which can get really hot during summer time.

Beautiful parkland in the middle of Sydney Olympic Park. The park has shady pathway walks, large grass areas, fitness equipment, childrens playground and direct access to accessible amenities, pub, fast food, accommodation, sporting venues, public transport and picnic tables. The 700m walking path is good. There is a small exercise gym the council have added to the park which is only just enough to do some exercises on. I have only given this a three star because of the older kids who like to use the park as motorbike riding area on occasions. As the park is large.

As there is no shade the park gets dirty very soon . It doesn’t get cleaned often. The slide and swing are full of bird poop and stagnant water. The other play components are cracking due to UV exposure. Only positive is that no-one visits it. So you can have the entire place for yourself.

This is a lovely dog park tucked away on the busy corner of Silverwater Rd and Beaconsfield St. Many furbabies visit this park, and the locals are very welcoming. The park is fully fenced, has water facilities for the pooches and loads of running space for the energetic hound. The park would be amazing IF the council would invest just a little more into ridding the park of bindis annually. And if the furbabies are uninterested in the park, the local streets are wonderful for walking – low traffic (both foot and vehicle) make it easy for dog and owner to stroll. There is also ample street parking around the park area.

It was a very nice hotel. Good room and good price. Buffet was ok (but no pastries on offer). The pool was good. Unfortunately on the Saturday evening there were a large group of people (all same group) partying at the pool. They had buckets of chicken chips and glass bottles of alcohol and they were playing really loud music. Their kids were leaving rubbish on the poolside so it was just floating in the pool. Bit gross and the glass bottles left on the pool coping was dangerous. The signs said no food or glass in the pool area so I think the management of the hotel should have controlled this. We just had a quick dip and went.

We did the Christmas Day buffet. The food was amazing. So much to choose from, it was delicious. The value was excellent and no Christmas prep or washing up.
I was disappointed to find that all the leftover food was thrown out. I’m sure there is a reason why it can’t be kept for people who don’t have any food but in a world where we are trying to be concious of sustainability and poverty it just didn’t seem right.

I have stayed at APX Parramatta for several months. The room is great. The staff are friendly and efficient and always very helpful. The loft room I am in is perfect. 2 levels, with a fully equipped kitchen, lounge room , all air conditioned , plus bathroom with washer and dryer.. Car Parking is available in a secured basement. The rates are very very reasonable considering the value you receive.
Location is perfect. Nearby supermarkets, food outlets, transport, and the M4 make the location ideal.
I would highly recommend APX Parramatta, especially for those that require a room much larger than a traditional hotel room, with the added benefits of being a fully furnished apartment with full kitchen and cooking utensils.

We were booked for two nights for a two bedroom apartment.
We arrived here around 0845 pm. After checking in, we were greeted by a couple of cockroaches at the door to the apartment building. When we entered the apartment, it smelled like a dead animal in the space. Upon investigation we found cracked eggs under the fridge which were not cleaned, possibly for days. The bathrooms had hair and dirt throughout and the sofas and linen are stained.
The reception is not manned after-hours (we had to wait for 20 mins for our keys to be issued) so we could not call someone right away for cleanup. However, reading this establishment’s online reviews, I wouldn’t think changing apartments in APX would have helped.
Our kids were extremely tired and it was late in the evening. As a result, reluctantly we stayed at the place that night. We left the next morning cutting short our two days booking by a day. We booked at another serviced apartment in Macquarie Park.

We are very happy to have enrolled my child at Goodstart Parramatta and it has been indeed, one of the best decisions we ever made. The centre is very warm and welcoming and at the same time is very professional. My child, who I enrolled here last year and my child at present has a very different personality and I thank all the educators for craving out this amazing little personality of her. The Centre Director, Danielle has always been available in case of any questions and the communication has been wonderful. Mel, the Assistant Director who also seems to assume the role of an educator is amazing and is full of enthusiasm when it comes to organizing meaningful activities. The few things my daughter tells us about her day at the centre amazes me. All the educators, Tara, Somali, Tanzila, and Dimple pay close attention to the likes, dislikes, interests, and suggestions of the children and also takes into account the suggestions of the parents.
The centre has been the best start my daughter could have before entering school. Thank you very much for being actively involved in the development of my child. Can not thank you all enough!

This place is excellent for Indian style Chinese food. I love indian chinese and have tried other places as well. But this place is the best among all and has improved over the years. Prices are very reasonable. Cost you about $15 to $20 a head for a good dinner. I am a regular visitor to this place. Love their food. I am not paying top dollar so cannot expect top decor or top service. But food quality and quantity are excellent.
I am a regular customer here and went again on Sat 29/05/2021. The place has maintained its excellent standards and quality and quantity of food. Best Indian style Chinese food in Sydney. I cannot understand why they have not raised their prices? Can easily add $1 to each dish. Will still be cheap. Keep it up staff and management of this place. All the best.

Please avoid going there for any car rentals and the management should be changed of their rude behaviour. Not sure what the other hertz dealerships are like. I will be happy if someone from the higher management contacts us and discuss this further.

if i could score a 0 i would. we recently stayed here in the 2x bedroom apartment room, where do i start! the floor was filthy our feet were black after 5 minutes in the room, the utensils in the kitchen were put back in the drawer with out being washed so when we went to use them they still had dried food on them! the dish washer still had stuff in it from the previous people who stayed in there, the main bedroom bed after undoing it had dead bugs and dust on it. the ensuite had a putrid smell in it. the balcony had not been cleaned either the dust/dirt on the floor was again putrid. it honestly was like the room had not been cleaned ever. for the price we paid for this room we expected way more! I would not recommend this place in a million years.

Wouldn’t let a wild pig stay here.
Dirty washing in the machine, dirty dishes in the dishwasher. No spa/sauna/pool was allowed.
Paper thin walls and Curtin’s.
0/10 – would only be suitable for a knockdown and rebuild

We had a good time at Albion hotel outdoor area. Our food arrived really on time and all a reasonable price. Good vibe, nice music and you feel safe. Security people were patrolling the area at all times ensuring everyone behaved properly. Definitely I will come back and I would recommend this place.
Con: Music was extremely loud and almost hard to talk. Older people had to leave by 9 pm as an avalanche of young people flood the place by this time.

Booking at this place will ruin your night.
So this place has a very strict dress code on the weekends, more than any fancy or high end restaurants and their security (fashion police) have full discretion on deciding who to let in based on the outfit.
We showed up as a group, all dressed nice for a night out and 2 of us were denied due to dress code which means if you do a group booking you won’t guarantee everybody getting in on the night. We had the choice of either getting in without the two or go somewhere else which we did.
Security told us that this dress code only applies on weekends. Well if we’re not welcome on the weekends were definitely not supporting your business on the weekdays.

Green and Clean. Well maintained campus. Easily accessible to public transport. Amazing ground with open gymnasium. Lot of car paid parking available. Two days back they have installed a car charging hub as well for echo friendly electric vehicles. There are fee eateries inside as well like Oliver brown, piccolo me

I walked around the Heritage walk trail through the campus grounds last week I found it rather interesting.
HISTORY OF CAMPUS GROUNDS
Female Orphan Asylum
In September 1813 the Governor visited the site for the purpose of laying the foundation stone for the new Female Orphan Asylum.
On the 30th July 1818 the girls were taken to the new building on the grounds. Girls aged between 5 and 13 years of age.
Once the girls reached 13 years they were apprenticed as servants to families of good character.
In the mid 1980’s the buildings became obsolete and fell into disrepair the University of Western Sydney ( Western Sydney University) restored the buildings in 2000 turning the grounds into the University.
Orphan School Hospital
In 1854 the hospital was proposed as part of the expansion of facilities to accommodate boys as well as girls on the same site.
In May 1858 tenders were called into build a hospital.
The hospital was later significantly altered internally and externally as it integrated into the psychiatric facility in late 1890.
Boiler House
Constructed in 1894 the steam laundry, boiler house and chimney was one complex this complex was destroyed by fire in the early 1990’s.
The chimney is a landmark reminder of the psychiatric hospital phase which housed over 1000 patients.

I guess the worst subway in the entire NSW , they don’t change their gloves after taking money and change from the previous customer, dive straight into making sub for the next customer ! I ordered a veg and non veg subs and they first put in the 2 veges I told them not to and then started taking them out from the sandwich with their hand which was disgusting , then on telling them to make a new one they still handed me 2 non vegetarian subs and messed up my order and some one else’s too by giving them my veggie delight . I don’t know what was the hurry when there were only 2 customers there in the store . Highly unprofessional practise and body language !

This place can hinestly be a hit and miss, being a franchise there are multiple chains that I have visited and each chain has different employees who prepare meals different ways. This place should have management stop over to ensure the meal is prepared for the customer properly. We experienced the Rolls being put together quite messy when closing it they barely bothered to correctly tuck the vegetables in correctly while closing the roll over, causing it to fall apart when opening it to consume. Little more effort would definitely need to be put in.

Worst subway in Sydney hands down!!! Tomatoes were old and had a rotton smell and taste. I was over charged $3 by the owner because I requested him to put more then 5 pieces of olives on my sub!! I had to ask 4 times for more olives before getting very bad attitude from him. What a joke!
Do not come here! My roll ended up in the bin!

Probably one of the best laskas around Sydney. Had some veggie spring rolls and curry puffs to start off which were very tasty. Service was great and main portions were big. A bit pricier than a few other places but well worth it. Little parking lot next to the place but gets very busy, best to plan in advance where to park.

Great food and portions sizes were very generous. Food came out very quickly after ordering, so no long wait times.
Not a full star experience as the restaurant is a little crowded. You feel squeezed in.
But staff are polite and are quick with responding to requests.

I visited the store with information on the in wall speakers I was using at the time. I was given good and honest advice on what I would need to turn my system from ok to really good.
I had little knowledge and could have easily been oversold. It was even recommended that I keep two of the existing speakers.
The result far exceeded my expectations and didn’t blow my budget.
I will definitely be returning.

Used Digital Cinema twice now. Both times I have had exceptional service. First time my amp & speakers were posted to me very quickly.
Second time I went into the store & not only did I get great service but also got shown how to set my amp up correctly. Highly recommended 👍👍👍

Absolutely horrendous staff – only go there if you are willing to get insulted. If you are by chance visiting the store to see your options, don’t expect any service. They are only interested in people willing to buy straight away. The staff doesn’t understand the word “courtesy” – may be they never learned it.
Never again – I’ll take my business elsewhere.
